Better2 Know announces the engagement for Net Zero by 2050

Climate change remains one of the most urgent challenges in modernity. The continuous injection of carbon dioxide and other fossil fuels in our atmosphere threatens to increase the ecosystems to increase the number of extreme weather events and to destabilize access to all types of resources such as fresh water, food, arable land and more.

Better2 Know recognizes the challenges that climate change is for our world. We therefore commit to a strategy that reaches the Netto -Null emissions in our business by 2050.

Take a look at our full carbon reduction plan.

Who are we?

Better2 Know is the worlds that leads to an organization for sexual health tests that aims to improve the sexual and general health of all of our patients.

We offer a wide range of services from STI tests, advice on sexual health, treatment and fertility services. Our goal is to give everyone a clear overview of their sexual health so that they can get the treatment and care they need.

What is net zero?

If an organization, like a company or a government, netts zero, it undertakes not to add more carbon emissions to the atmosphere than they remove.

Companies need energy to operate and a good part of the energy that is burned by most companies include fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal.

When burning, these fuels fill greenhouse gases into the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane. These gases increase the global temperature by catching additional energy in the earth’s atmosphere.

Reducing the emission quantity is a necessary step to reduce the worst effects of climate change.

How do we measure emissions?

To determine whether our emissions are falling, we have to set a number for the basic emissions. Basic emissions are a recording of the greenhouse gases that were manufactured in the past before the introduction of reduction strategies. They are the baseline on which all emission reductions are measured.

In 2019, we selected ourselves as representative pre-Covid 19-year year as the baseline against which we will determine the success of these strategies.

How do we reduce emissions?

We have already worked hard to reduce our existing emissions. Since 2019 we have cut our emissions from our three offices in Great Britain, Spain and South Africa by 48% compared to our baseline for 2019.

We have achieved this:

  • Installing solar collectors in our British offices to reduce energy consumption online
  • Installation of energy -efficient lighting
  • Introduced video conferences to reduce business trips
  • Introduction of hybrids and remote work practices to shorten time and energy consumption
  • Promotion of carpooling within the company
  • Become completely digital in all of our internal and external communication
  • Partner with low-emission Courier Services for Class logistics
  • Selected suppliers based on carbon neutr politis

But we don’t stop there.

We have planned projects that will come into force after 2025, including:

  • A transition to vehicles from the fully electric company
  • Building partnerships with laboratories with green guidelines
  • Introduction of a science -based Targets Initiative (SBTI) guidelines
  • In cooperation with suppliers in the decarbonization of the supply chain
  • Introduction of employees sustainability training and incentives for travel programs such as cycle-to-work programs

How do we stop our CO2 footprint?

Reducing the amount of greenhouse gases that we give is important to achieve our climate goals. However, we can go further by compensating for the remaining emissions through verified carbon removal schemes as follows:

  • Tree planting projects based in Great Britain in Great Britain
  • Investment in CO2 recording technologies
  • Reforestation
  • Solar household lighting
  • Mangrove recovery
  • Renewable and alternative energy projects

A better option for our patients

We know that our patients take care of the condition of our environment. That is why we would like to offer our patients a better test option that not only improves their own sexual health, but also the health of our planet.

Mike Asher, Chairman of Better2 Know, had to say this to say the plan of Better2 Knows Carbon Reduction:

At Better2 we need to know what we can do to support the fight against climate change. We look forward to what we have already achieved and what we can do in the coming years to reduce our emissions even further. Protecting the health of our patients and the health of our planet is part of the same mission. “
